Seasoned digital leader, Barbara Mousigian to Join
WBEZ Chicago as Vice President of Digital
CHICAGO (Aug. 8, 2017) – WBEZ Chicago is delighted to announce the hiring of Barbara Mousigian as its new vice president of digital. Mousigian brings a wealth of experience in product management, strategy, analytics and e-commerce.
“After an extensive search and interviews with many candidates, it became clear that Barbara is a perfect fit and the right person to spearhead our aggressive digital expansion,” said Goli Sheikholeslami, president and CEO of WBEZ. “Barbara will be an integral part of our mission to lead the evolution of broadcast radio to digital audio. She has the experience and insights to help ensure our success with the next generation of listeners.”
Mousigian is a seasoned digital leader with more than 20 years of experience, beginning her career at Bain and Company and Frito-Lay before leading the Chicago staff for interactive agency Digitas. As the firm’s senior vice president and managing director, she created innovative digital strategies in a quickly changing market for clients such as General Motors, Best Buy and Domino’s Pizza.
Mousigian became the head of e-commerce and digital marketing at CDW Inc. in 2006. She managed all online efforts for the Fortune 500 hardware and software reseller, overseeing product management, customer analytics, user experience design and search engine, email and social marketing. Following this six-year leadership position, Mousigian moved to Cars.com, where she transformed the automotive marketplace into a “mobile first” platform as vice president of product. She currently serves as senior vice president of marketing for Vivid Seats, LLC and heads up brand communications for the company.
Mousigian will start at WBEZ on Aug. 23 during a time of significant digital expansion for the station. WBEZ also plans to significantly expand its staff over the next three years to support its commitment to producing high quality investigative journalism and creative programming for the digital age. Mousigian’s hire follows that of Steve Edwards, who starts at WBEZ as vice president and chief content officer on Aug. 14.
